Lucille Jeanne

I figured I should get some sort of update on here about my pregnancy. The update is ... that it is over. And it has been for almost two months now. I've got my hands busy with a two month old baby girl named Lucille Jeanne and I haven't had time to post anything.

Whoops!

On May 3 (my nephew's birthday) at 6 pm we checked into the hospital. No, I wasn't having contractions. I wasn't even dilated past 2 cm or anything yet. Lucy did not want to leave her womb sweet womb and that was that. I tried walking. I tried everything. She was stuck. So, finally the doctor decided I was due for an induction. I was 41 wks and 1 day after all.

7 pm I'm given Pitocin to start my contractions. I really didn't want this induction. So many things can happen. Labor is intensified and usually longer than usual. Ugh. But here I am anyway. At least I'm surrounded by my loved ones. My mom, my stepmom, my mother-in-law, my sister-in-law, my stepdad, Marilyn and Tom, and some good nurses. Let the pain begin.

I'm not sure when the pain began but it hit hard. I was sick to my stomach with pain. I decided I wanted to back out of the entire labor process now but it was too late. Lucy was coming and now she was mad. Soon after the pain was horrible. Then my water broke. Naturally. Not like before when it had to be broken. I am one of only 8-10% of women where this occurs naturally. Didn't I feel special?

Marilyn was ushered out and the real process began. It didn't take long but it seemed to take forever. Especially those last few dilated centimeters. But at 5:01 am Lucille was born into this world. I'm glad no other issues arose and she seemed healthy. She weighed 8 lbs. 6 oz. and was 21 3/4 inches long. She didn't cry a lot but she got her message across.

They flopped her down on my chest and I thought she was beautiful even if I don't look like it in the pictures.

I was so surprised to see a full head of curly hair. Marilyn had been bald pretty much and I had minimal heartburn (old wives tale) so I hadn't prepared myself for this crown full of curls.

It was dark at first. And later it seemed to get darker and curlier but we were too exhausted to really notice.

All I knew was that I was in love with this cute chunky face.

Well, that's Lucy. I will have to update on how she is now soon. Well, I might get it finished before she heads to kindergarten at least!

Painted Great Room

Here is my painted great room! You can also see the painted hall and foyer in these shots. The only thing to add now is the custard color to the trim.

By the way, we got the "custard" color in a different brand. We got all of the paints in Behr because we like that paint and everything. Anyway, it wound up being more gold but I still like it.
Oh, and Tom laid the tile for the patio doors as well.

Hall and Foyer

Okay, previous owners had this awful salmon color all over the foyer and hall. I want to go with a caramel color so it will go well with the blue since part of the wall juts into the great room.

Here are the before shots:

Hall
Foyer
So, here is the caramel color I want to go with:
And the trim will be the creme brulee color I picked out for the great room.

Master bedroom

Here are the pictures of the master bedroom when we first bought our house.

So we ripped out the carpets. We'll put in the same brown as the other bedrooms. Then we fixed the walls and primed them.

The color we wanted to put on the walls was the original gold color from the bathrooms but after switching all kinds of colors around we went for a color that was supposed to be an adobe kind of orange. It end up red on our walls for whatever reason! Yikes!

It's a beautiful color and all but not what I had in mind. Especially since I have a blue bed set that I just purchased. So, now I'm not sure what is going to happen. We have been messing around with all kinds of ideas. The trim is going to be a chocolate color in here. So, I'm still thinking on the rest of this room. It's all up in the air.

Baby's room

Oh, baby's room. The only room that I should be working on right now if we weren't currently moving into an entirely new house!
Here are some pictures of baby's room before anything.
I loved this spring green color on the walls.

But, we needed something to contrast with it. Since my baby colors are mint green and chocolate, I wanted to paint one wall an accent wall with a brown. We are going to paint the baby's crib in a darker brown.
Here's the accent wall primed.

I'm thinking of reflecting the green back into some kind of curtains since this is the only window in the room as well. I think I would go with the same curtains I chose for Marilyn's room. They are thermal and noise reducing. They are on Walmart.com
We are also putting in the same brown carpet in this room as well as the same brown roman shades.
Baby's crib is a chocolate color and a friend has offered a bedroom set for baby but I haven't seen it yet. I can't wait until baby can come home and dream her little dreams in this room, though. It seems so far away and so close all at the same time!

Marilyn's room

Marilyn's room is going to be so pretty. She chose Behr's "Victorian Purple". We are going to paint the trim the "Gold Buff" color from the bathrooms. This will be the main trim color throughout the house.
The carpet will be removed and replaced. We are replacing all of the carpets in the bedrooms with a brown carpet. Sort of like this.
Here are the before shots:
Obviously, this room used to belong to a kid named Austin. Who loved writing on the walls. Obvious in these next pictures.

And the primer goes on.
And oh so purple!
The pictures were taken at night so I'm sorry for the quality.
Tom's working hard!
Her furniture will go back into the room. It's a cream colored set. And she wants to hang purple curtains. (I want cream). Can you tell what her favorite color of the month is right now? lol She'll also get the same roman shades as the kitchen.
I like these curtainsfrom Walmart.com.

Bathrooms

Ok, we have two bathrooms in the new house. We have a master bath and a guest bath. Due to all kinds of craziness, we are going to use the same paint color on both.

Guest bath before pics:

The walls aren't primed yet in these pictures. We're just dismantling everything getting ready to paint.
Here are more of the ugly gold accessories that I will have to change over. Probably to a brushed nickel.

I'm going to skip right over primed pictures (since I don't have any) and just show the finished product.
After paint shots:
I wasn't sure how this color was going to turn out but I like it a lot on the walls.
We're going to do red accessories in here.

We're going to go for a "sunset" kind of theme in this bath. Decorating with a lot of warm colors and things like that.

Master bath: The first thing we had to do in the master bath was rip out the carpets. I hate carpets in the bathroom. Who does that? There was a nice blue and white linoleum underneath so we kept that.

Before pics of the master bath:

These walls are primed with one coat. Don't mind the toilet tank and mess please! lol
I guess I didn't get any after shots of the master with the new cream paint. I believe we went with Behr's "Gold Buff" technically speaking. Imagine it with the same exact paint as the other bathroom. lol
For the accessories in this room, we went the opposite to show the different views on the same color paint. The master will be done in a sea kind of theme. So, I'm thinking blues, greens, and cool colors. I love this shower curtain from Bed Bath and Beyond.

And these blue towels will work nicely.
