Lucille Jeanne
I figured I should get some sort of update on here about my pregnancy. The update is ... that it is over. And it has been for almost two months now. I've got my hands busy with a two month old baby girl named Lucille Jeanne and I haven't had time to post anything.
Whoops!
On May 3 (my nephew's birthday) at 6 pm we checked into the hospital. No, I wasn't having contractions. I wasn't even dilated past 2 cm or anything yet. Lucy did not want to leave her womb sweet womb and that was that. I tried walking. I tried everything. She was stuck. So, finally the doctor decided I was due for an induction. I was 41 wks and 1 day after all.
7 pm I'm given Pitocin to start my contractions. I really didn't want this induction. So many things can happen. Labor is intensified and usually longer than usual. Ugh. But here I am anyway. At least I'm surrounded by my loved ones. My mom, my stepmom, my mother-in-law, my sister-in-law, my stepdad, Marilyn and Tom, and some good nurses. Let the pain begin.
I'm not sure when the pain began but it hit hard. I was sick to my stomach with pain. I decided I wanted to back out of the entire labor process now but it was too late. Lucy was coming and now she was mad. Soon after the pain was horrible. Then my water broke. Naturally. Not like before when it had to be broken. I am one of only 8-10% of women where this occurs naturally. Didn't I feel special?
Marilyn was ushered out and the real process began. It didn't take long but it seemed to take forever. Especially those last few dilated centimeters. But at 5:01 am Lucille was born into this world. I'm glad no other issues arose and she seemed healthy. She weighed 8 lbs. 6 oz. and was 21 3/4 inches long. She didn't cry a lot but she got her message across.

They flopped her down on my chest and I thought she was beautiful even if I don't look like it in the pictures.
I was so surprised to see a full head of curly hair. Marilyn had been bald pretty much and I had minimal heartburn (old wives tale) so I hadn't prepared myself for this crown full of curls.
It was dark at first. And later it seemed to get darker and curlier but we were too exhausted to really notice.
All I knew was that I was in love with this cute chunky face.
Well, that's Lucy. I will have to update on how she is now soon. Well, I might get it finished before she heads to kindergarten at least!
